Candymakers sequel is out in the world!

Thank you to everyone who helped land THE CANDYMAKERS AND THE GREAT CHOCOLATE CHASE on the New York Times Children’s bestseller list and the Indie Booksellers Children’s bestseller list on its first week out! I’d send you each a basket of candy if I could (although I’d probably eat it first)!! I hope everyone who submitted a suggestion for the book in previous blog comments realizes how awesome their ideas were, and a ton of them show up in the book–especially the suggestions for clever tag lines for a certain candy that won the contest in the first book. So I couldn’t have written this book without you. I hope you enjoy hitting the road in a tricked-out RV with your old friends Logan, Miles, Philip and Daisy, (and a few other surprise guests!).

Now back to work I go!

xx,

    Hi Wendy,
I have been such a huge fan of this series ever since the first book , the candymakers came out! I especially love how you develop the characters over the course of this series. Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled when you announced the sequel. The sequel did not disappoint me and it was just as brilliant as the first book!
Is this the last book of the candymaker’s series? Or is there going to be another book after this one?
Thank you for doing what you do:),
    Jasmine

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 7:09 pm

Thanks so much, Jasmine!! That second book was HARD to write so I’m so glad you liked their development, that means a lot to me! And book 3 will be a prequel in graphic novel form. I don’t think I have another 500 page book in me, lol. All my (belated, I know!) best wishes to you!!

Hi! I’m sure by now you’ve learned many writing methods, in the Resources Tab there’s an article on the outlining process that I use for each book, so feel free to check that out. Would love to hear how it’s going. And so glad you enjoyed the Candymakers, R.I.P Good n Fruity!!

If you’d like autographed books I partner up with Sparta Books, my wonderful local indie bookstore. If you call them and place an order and tell them you’d like them signed, I’ll go in and sign them, they’ll mail them out. Voila & thank you!!

      • Sophia on May 21, 2018 at 8:58 pm

Your books are amazing! I ha e read almost all of them and the cansymakers is my favorite. I have read the first one probably 7 times and I never get bored of it and the second one I have read 3 times and am just starting to read it again. I would love it if you made a third candymakers book or made one that focused just on the life of one of the characters before the original book. I love you so much and you are such an inspiration.

I just wanted to say how much I loved this book and the “surprise guests”! This book was just as amazing if not more amazing than the first one and I don’t know how that’s possible because the first one was like the best book ever!!! I love how relatable the characters are, I can see myself in every character (especially Miles). I really really really hope that we get to see more of The Candymakers in the future, but if not, I will read any book you write! Thanks for being amazing Wendy!!!

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 7:00 pm

AW, thanks so much!! Miles is a sweetie! SO GLAD you noticed/enjoyed the cameos I stuck in there! Book 3 in 2024! (a prequel!) Big (belated!) hug to you!!!

Also… I can’t get the candymakers sequel out of my head!! I’ve tried everything! Just so memorable! There’s no way I’m going to be able to read it again and be surprised 🙁

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:53 pm

You’re very funny! I hope you enjoy the prequel in 2024 and won’t be too old to read it, I’m sorry these comments are just going up!! It tells the story of how Logan’s grandfather wound up starting a candy factory and was a lot of fun to write. Can’t wait for you to see it! I wish you all the best!
      Wendy

  16. MKZ on November 19, 2016 at 7:44 pm

OMG just read the chocolate chase and it is soooo amazing! I love how you are able to successfully write from 4 different perspectives and blend it all together, AND have mysteries for all the characters, not leaving any loose ends. Any chance you might write a third book? It left off on a bit of a cliff hanger, so…
I also think you should have daisy and Phillip be together, because in the first book they both thought each other was attractive and there’s the part where they almost hold hands. So yeah anyway, I hope you take some of this into consideration!

    • Wendy Mass on November 21, 2016 at 3:36 pm

So glad you liked it!! Hard to think about book 3 yet…over 500 pages for book 2 means i put most of my brain into that one. ;o). If that changes, you’ll hear it here first. :o)
      xx,
      Wendy

I would really enjoy a third book please make it happen even if I have to wait for it. Lol but just to know that the idea of it being made is out there is enough lol

      • Wendy Mass on May 5, 2018 at 9:32 am

No plans at this point but ideas are always out there somewhere for authors just waiting to hatch! Thank you for reading! 🙂

        • Michelle Daddona on April 28, 2019 at 4:53 pm

My daughter just finished both books in your Candymakers series and absolutely loved them! She surprised herself by finishing them even with how thick they were as she did not believe it was possible at the start, but they held her interest and she just wanted to keep on reading and reading. However, the second book left her on a bit of a cliff hanger, so she is wondering if there are plans for a third book in the series as she wants to find out if Logan is going to make his own candy out of the new beans like his grandfather did? And if his scars ever go away? And if this seed planted by Frank would take and actually bear cocoa pods in three to five years?

          • Wendy Mass on October 27, 2020 at 5:57 pm

Hi, first I’m so glad your daughter enjoyed the books, that’s about 1000 pages under her belt LOL. I’m really not sure what will happen with the beans. If there’s ever a sequel someday I will have to figure that out. Right now I’m working on a prequel that will include Logan’s grandfather and his friends when they were kids and it will also include the beans. And I think Logan will continue to improve. Hope that helps, thanks so much for reaching out! All my best to you both, Wendy

    Dear Wendy Mass,

I am writing to tell you how much I LOVE your books. You are one of my favorite authors!! My friends Charlotte and Ellie S., both go to Hebrew school with your kids. They were able to get me your book Leap Day, and it was signed by you. Thanks. Leap Day is now on my top favorite book lists. I love how you not only made it through Josie’s perspective, but through everyone else in Josie’s life. It was such a good book that I finished it in 3 days. I couldn’t put it down! Not only do I love Leap Day, but I love A Mango Shaped Space, 11 Birthdays, and Finally 12. All of your books are so good that I bought Every Soul a Star and Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life. I want to read Graceful, Heaven Looks a Lot Like the Mall, and all of the Twice Upon a Time Series. I hope to become a writer just as good as you someday!! I do have a couple questions that were not answered on your About Me section of your website:

Will there be a sequel to Leap Day perhaps told through Katie’s perspective?

Are you a Harry Potter Fan if so which house do you belong in?

Have you read the Percy Jackson & Divergent Series?(They are my favorites)

Will you write anymore of the Willow Falls Series of books?

When is your next book going to come out?

Will you please use my name which is Sophia as a character in your next book?

Please answer my questions because I am dying to read your responses. Also, thank you for taking the time to read my email, I really appreciate it!!

    Sincerely, SS

Will you please respond to my email

    • Wendy Mass on November 21, 2016 at 3:35 pm

Hi SS!! Thank you for your great letter, and I’m so glad Leap Day kicked it off for you! Thank you for the push to add more to the Q&A on my site, i’ll do that over the winter break. I’ll chat with C & E next time I see them and they’ll pass along the answers to your questions. Sound good? Hugs to you!!!

It’s almost as good as the first book(not quite, because No book will every be as good as the first candymakers book! it was so good!) I hope there is a 3rd book because this one ended in a cliffhanger!!!

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:49 pm

HI!! WOW on finishing it in a day!! You are super speedy!! In hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have ended the chocolate chase the way I did, oops! ;o). Book 3 is a prequel and hopefully you’re not too old to still read it. ;o).
      BEST WISHES to you!!
      Wendy

  21. Kalena on November 27, 2016 at 6:45 pm

    Dear Wendy Mass,

I just finished reading CM2 and it was fantabulous! I loved the concept of the book and the characters! Even the new characters that the main 4 met. I got the CM2 for my birthday, it’s like a tradtion! I get Wendy Mass books for my birthday each year. (If you don’t know what I mean check out my other comment for Graceful.) I have read all of your books and they all were super great! I also have a question; How do you get your inspiration for your stories? They all are so different! Whenever I try to write, my stories usually come out very similar to the same ones I have written before! Thank you for writing all of your books, you inspire me to become an author.

    -Kalena

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:48 pm

      Hi Kalena!!
Love the birthday tradition!! That’s great that you’re writing! That totally happened to me a lot in the beginning (and I’d always name my characters the same names by mistake, too, and then have to fix it!). I find it helps to fill out questionnaires on the characters first and I make sure to make them very different from previous ones (different habits, settings, interests, lives, etc), so that steers the story in very different directions…hope that helps!!
      BEST WISHES!!
      Wendy

  22. Anushka Dogra on November 28, 2016 at 8:57 am

Hi Wendy, Mrs. Mass, or Ms. Mass (whichever one you prefer). I am a HUGE fan of yours. I have read almost all of your books. I just finished reading “The Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase” and, like all of your books, it was truly AMAZING. I think amazing is an understatement. My birthday is November 30th (it’s coming up), and I’m in eighth grade. I have been reading your books ever since, oh I’m not sure, 3rd grade.

I was wondering, is the next book you’re writing part of one of your series? If you are what series is it part of?

I really hope you reply back. Again I am a HUGE fan!

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 7:19 pm

Hi! thanks for reading all of them, and happy belated birthday!! the next book probably wasn’t in a series, but the Candymakers prequel will round out that one. All my best wishes and so sorry for the delay in sending them! xo, Wendy

  23. Amani Nelson on December 3, 2016 at 12:09 am

Hi Wend Mass! I just read both books the Candymakers series and I absolutely love it! Please make a third book! Also can you answer my three questions:

Q1: can you make daisyand logan be together because n the first book, Daisy finds Logan’s hand electric which makes it seem like the relationship shoukd build?

Q3: How did you create such interesting, lifelike charscters?

    Thank you for your time!

    Sincerely,
    A.N.

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 10:55 am

Hi, had to take out Q2 for spoiler ;o). But with Q1, that was really more about showing the Logan had this special something/energy to him. And for Q3, thanks for that, and I kind of “interview” the characters ahead of time to figure out what would both draw them together, and provide conflicts. Then I have to make sure they’re different enough from other characters in other books!
      All my best!!
      Wendy

  24. Aanya on December 3, 2016 at 9:48 pm

    Dear Wendy Mass,
I’d like to tell you how much your writing means to me. You have inspired me so much. I definitely think that Phillip and Daisy belong together. And, I also loved that you added characters from your other books into The Great Chocolate Chase. It was very creative and not very many authors have done it. There is no way that I would ever be able to decide which of your books were my favorite. I loved them all too much! But, I am just going to say that I loved how In every single book of the Willow Falls you focused on one character and their story. Thank you for everything!
    Sincerely AA

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 10:44 am

Thank you so much for your great letter, so glad you spotted the cameos in the CM2 book! I figured since those books didn’t have sequels it would be a good opportunity to give them a little more story time. Sending hugs back thru time!
      Wendy

Thank you, Wendy Mass! My daughter has recently discovered your books and it is the first time that I have seen her this excited to read! She has auditory processing disorder and school can be a challenge at times but she has totally connected with your writing and I am so grateful. What a blessing! Thanks!

    • Wendy Mass on December 15, 2016 at 11:01 am

I’m so glad!! That’s literally the best thing to hear. I’ve watched that happen with my own son (with Harry Potter and Benedict Society) and it’s such a great feeling. Please give your daughter a big hug for me (and you too!). All my best wishes to you both! Wendy

  26. Chloe on February 20, 2017 at 4:16 pm

Omg yes!!!! New candymakers!!! Already read it but I love it and just had to make a comment! I just absolutely love how you take the time to just make sure that every book is written at its best! I am 12 and have read every book you wrote! When I bought the candymakers I had preordered it just because I was so excited! I can be picky about books but the way you write them in incredible! The detail and the plot is amazing! I read the candymakers in 4 hrs straight; putting the book down only to get a drink of water! I hope to someday be writer like you and write relatable books that touch each and every person’s heart that reads them!

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 7:16 pm

    Dear Wendy Mass,
I just want to start off this comment by saying how much I LOVE your books! My personal favorites are The Candymakers series, and Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, although all your books are great! I just finished reading the Great Chocolate Chase, and I absolutely loved it! I just couldn’t get enough of it! I was just wondering if the whole Candymakers Movie thing was still a thing, because I remember you posting about is awhile ago, but I haven’t seen anything about it. I was also wondering if you accept fan mail, because there are many more things that I would like to ask that would make a very long comment. Thanks for the great books,
    Ethan

Hi! So sorry for just seeing this, so glad you enjoyed the Candymakers books! The prequel is in the works! I had so much fun revisiting that world. Movie stuff definitely takes a long time but hopefully I will have news to report soon. Let’s both cross our fingers and toes 🙂 all my best to you and your family!

    Ms. Mass,
My fifth grade class and I read your book, Every Soul a Star this year and it has inspired us to want to see the solar eclipse! My students were so full of excitement that I hatched this wild idea that I should bring them to go see it. So now I am in the infancy stages of planning a trip to Festus, MO. I have made a contact in St. Louis and with the help of him and my School Board president it looks like we’re going! Festus School District is going to host my fifth grade students. We will be sleeping in their school Sunday night and then the following day we will spend it with the local students and staff while we wait for the eclipse. This is going to be so amazing and I just wanted to let you know it is all because of your book. Thank you for writing a book that resonates with students. The tale of Ally, Bree and Jack has inspired us to go for it. We figured if Bree and Jack could do it, so could we. 🙂

I hope that you and your family have made plans to travel to a totality location. Wishing you clear skies,

This sounds like it was an incredible trip. How fortunate your students are to have a teacher like you! It means so much to me that ESAS inspires this kind of an adventure! Thank you ✨

Hi, I just finished the Chocolate Chase, and I would love to know if there is going to be a third one. Honestly, I never thought I could commit to a 533 page book.

    • Wendy Mass on April 24, 2018 at 8:56 pm

I am so proud of you! I agree that number of pages is quite an undertaking. As of right now I don’t see a third in the future but at one point I couldn’t imagine a second so we both may be surprised. 🙂

  30. Rachel on July 13, 2017 at 10:47 am

I love the Candymakers series, partly because I love candy! I sometimes wonder how you’re able to write so many different books, and they’re all amazing. My favourites are Willow Falls, and the Candymakers. Do you think it would be possible that in one book, the Willow Falls people and the Candymakers meet up? It would be like a special edition. Thank you so much, you are one of my favourite authors!

    Thanks again!

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Thanks so much, you’re so sweet!! I don’t think I’ve crossed those characters except for a sneak mention of the hypnotist at Leo’s birthday party in the Candymakers sequel. I wonder if anyone picked up on it. ;o).
      Wishing you all the best!!

    Dear Wendy Mass,

I have no idea if this will work, but I really hope so. when i was 8, my mom tried to read me a big book(it isn’t that big, but I was still reading little books then.) It was called, Pi In The Sky. About 2 years later, I found it in my closet collecting dust. I have read it about 6 times since then. Recently, I discovered the candy makers series, OH MY GOSH I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! I consider myself a writer, and I love coming up with cool new ideas. I hope i’m as good a you when I’m older. Anyways, I was hoping that a third(and maybe fourth) candy makers would come out. Also, I would love love love love love love love it if my name could be used(Ben.) Hopefully my mind won’t explode if it does happen.

    P.S. ignore my email name
P.P.S you are my favoriitttttteeeee writer everrrrr

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 7:06 pm

Hi Ben the Writer, with a much-belated response!! I did use Benjamin in a book, one of the Twice Upon a Time ones, so hopefully that’s almost as good!? ;o). SO GLAD you found and read Pi in the Sky, I think that’s the book I would have wanted to read when I was young! (and 3rd Candymakers book in 2024, a prequel!)
All my best to you and your family!!

  36. Bella on February 22, 2018 at 8:02 pm

    Dear Wendy Mass,
Hi! My name is Bella, I’m the age to enter the “New Candy Contest” (so 12) and I LOVE books and writing! The first book I read from you was one from the twice upon a time series when I was about six, and I remembered LOVING it! So when I was at one of my trips to the library recently and had only two minutes to grab a book, I picked up “The Candymakers,” (and so it begins *dramatic music*) It was an absolutely AMAZING book! It was very unique, and I love how each part tells how they were feeling and why they said or did what they did. As the story goes on, the reader falls in love with all of the characters. In the first part of the book (Logan’s), you get a feel for the story, and who you think is your favorite and least favorite character. As you read further, you realize that it’s impossible to dislike any of the characters (I despised Philip in the beginning, and now he’s one of my favorite characters, aside from me not being able to pick a favorite!) The friendship and bond that they share is priceless, and the way that the stories tie into each other is stellar. After LOVING this book, I spotted at Barnes and Noble the sequel (Great Chocolate Chase) and couldn’t resist buying it. That book was PHENOMENAL! I loved the way that the story was told, the characters fighting an individual battle along with battle together, and the portrayal of the character’s emotions, as well as how they deal with them. The friendship that they show is amazing, and they act as if they are family. What was also great was those surprise special guests that you threw in there (Mia, Zach, and Beth from “A Mango Shaped Space” Jeremy and Lizzy from “Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life” The characters from “Every Soul a Star” which made it seem like all of your books were connected by a thin thread. What was also amazing was the support that they showed for each other, and the amazing adventures that they went on. Are you thinking about writing a third book? If not, please consider it! You still have that HUGE cliffhanger type part at the very end about the tree dying that could be the foundation of the next book, and Daisy STILL hasn’t found her brother! My first hope was AJ and Daisy being siblings, but that didn’t happen, but I also wanted the one match to be Daisy and Philip, even though I LOVE the match of Arthur and Miles being related. Daisy and Philip have such an amazing bond, and they seem like a great match. In a returning book, it would be really cool to see AJ again, since he seemed a fit between the group (as almost a big brother) Anyway, you are an amazing, amazing, AMAZING author, and I hope you keep writing!
    Please respond!
    Love,
    Bella<3
ps: I heard that there was going to be a Candymakers Movie:Fact or Rumor?

    • Wendy Mass on March 4, 2018 at 11:24 am

Hi Bella!! Love all your insights!!! ANd that you spotted all the cameos!!! You’re the exact kind of reader i put them there for, so big hug to you for that! I don’t think there will be a part three, but i didn’t think there would be a part two, so who really knows? With the movie, fingers and toes crossed, but no word yet. Will let you know for sure though!
      xoxo

        • Wendy Mass on April 24, 2018 at 8:40 pm

Hi Jack! Thank you for this friendly note. I am not sure there will be a third Candymakers book but sometimes a new story will surprise me and then I just have to write it. Happy Reading! 🙂

  37. Tonia McDonald on March 15, 2018 at 11:03 pm

My son was in fifth grade last year when he came home with a gigantic book from his school library, The Candymakers. I didn’t know what he was thinking. I laughed thinking we’d never finish this book, and I grimmaced thinking that I didn’t have any interest in reading some baby book about candy makers.
WoW! I knew right away that I wrong was I wrong!
I couldn’t put the book down even after the boys fell asleep from their bedtime story.
I felt so bad that I was reading ahead without them, but I couldn’t resist.
…jumping forward to tonight, with everyone asking me why was I did quiet at my staff meeting, including my boys, I didn’t want to admit it, but it was because I was so exhausted from being up till 2:15am last night reading The Great Chocolate Chase. I just finished now and I’m so pleased that I had to Google more books from Wendy Mass. I wish I had known about you earlier, but I’m very grateful to know about you now and really look forward to reading more of your books with my boys. Thank you! Superb writing! Very intriguing, entertaining, and inspiring.

Nothing makes me happier to read that parents are enjoying my stories with their children and even sneaking ahead. XO

  38. Grace on March 17, 2018 at 3:03 pm

This may come across as strange and child like to comment, but I am going to anyways. I am in love with your work and I would love to see it played out on the screen. Have you ever condisdered trying to talk to professionals to adapt this series as a movie? If not, you 10% should, it’s an exquisite read.

    • Wendy Mass on May 5, 2018 at 9:24 am

This isn’t child like at all! Authors love when their books become movies. I had a great time observing the process with Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life and would welcome more opportunities like that. Thank you for loving these stories! 🙂

  39. Ellis on March 17, 2018 at 9:43 pm

    Hi Wendy,

I love The Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase. I think you should come up with a third book. Regardless of the people saying that Phillip and Daisy should be together, this relationship would not be as funny as their teasing frenemy relationship. Here’s an idea; Logan and Daisy in a relationship. In a second book, when their hands were on top of one another, they did not move, Daisy sometimes hugs him, and Daisy admires Logan’s happy spirit.
    Thanks for your consideration,

    EB

    • Wendy Mass on May 5, 2018 at 9:19 am

    Dear Wendy Mass,
I just wanted to to tell you how amazing I think the candymakers series is! I just found out that you have even more books which I’m looking forward to reading them ALL!!!!! I feel that you should make the next book ( if you make another that is ) have something with Daisy finding her brother, and a new candy release. Maybe a chance of tragedy. I hope that if ( and hopefully when ) you make another book these ideas can help sum up the big picture. Sincerely, Georgia

    • Wendy Mass on April 29, 2018 at 10:16 am

Great ideas! And I still love after discover an author looking for their other books so I am honored you will be reading more of mine. Thanks so much for writing! 🙂

    • Wendy Mass on April 24, 2018 at 8:42 pm

      Hi Hanna
I will often do that very same thing. I will try to read a book I love slowly to make it last longer. It means so much to me you did this with The Candymakers. xo

    • Georgia Hicks on May 12, 2018 at 11:54 am

I’ve never heard something so true! Reading slow makes you want to see what goes on in the book. Have you ever read a book and seeing it happen before your eyes? Have any good book recommendations I’m open for options since I’ve officially read most of the books my library has!

  43. Jackie Sherman on April 6, 2018 at 12:35 am

Hello Wendy Mass! I know that you are very busy, but it would bring me great joy if you read my letter. I am the biggest fan of your books. You are my favorite author, and I LOVE your candy makers series. I love the detail you have given each book and I happened to come across the authors note at the beginning of the chocolate chase book. It said, “For all the readers of the candy makers who told me what you wanted to see in this book, I hope you’re please,” I couldn’t help thinking, how’d they reach out to you? I found this blog and thought it would be perfect. After all, you were the reason I began to love reading again and I have almost reread all of your books. I wanted to ask one question, “Are there going to be more book in the candy makers series?” I love this series so much and I can’t think to let it go. Especially the cliffhanger; I was upset to put the books back on my shelf when I finished both In a day, oopsa daisy hehe. I love how you made each character and how they relate to most readers. In my opinion, I would pay A LOT to have just one more book written about them. You were the reason for my childhood being so great and I enjoyed every second of it. I know that a lot of readers would jump off the walls if you wrote a third book. Please?

    Your biggest fan, Jackie

P.s. If possible in your busy schedule, can you please write back to me? I would be the happiest person on the planet. Thank you

    • Wendy Mass on April 24, 2018 at 8:27 pm

You made me one of the happiest authors with this thoughtful letter. As of now I don’t foresee any more Candymakers but I didn’t know there would be a second book. Sometimes stories find their way to an author when they least expect it. Keep reading! xo

  44. Annabel Snyder on May 10, 2018 at 7:51 pm

    Wendy Mass,
The first time I started reading The Candymakers, it was in fourth grade. I saw the book beside someone’s desk and started reading, getting instantly hooked. I got halfway through Logan’s first section when the owner of the book came and yelled at me, and after some discussion, I had to give it back. That afternoon, I went to the library and read it all in one day. The quote that Logan read, “Be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a battle you know nothing about,” really spoke to me and sort of became my motto. I honestly think that book made me a better person. The library finally got the second book, and I just finished it today. I’m an aspiring writer myself, and I have some suggestions/ideas that you could use for a book three.
I think it should start with Miles, Logan, and Philip going to school together. The time would be the end of the school day before spring break. [redacted due to spoilers]

If you do decide to use this idea (which I don’t expect because I’m just a middle school amateur), can I be a beta reader?
    Sincerely, a fan.

    • Wendy Mass on November 25, 2022 at 6:12 pm

I was truly moved by your comment about what the Candymakers meant to you, I try to live by that motto as well, so it’s fun to think of you doing it alongside me 🙂 Sorry I couldn’t post your whole story suggestion above for book three, but you definitely have the mind of a writer! (poor Philip at the end though lol.) I hope since so much time has passed now that you have written your own stories, and if not I certainly encourage you to do so. I just finished writing a graphic novel prequel to the book but it won’t be out until 2025 *gasp.* Sending you a big hug.

      All my best,
      Wendy

  45. Madeleine on May 26, 2018 at 8:52 pm

I love the Candymakers series so so so much! Do you think if you make a third book you could use my name? Even if you don’t i really hope there’s a third book. I really want to know what happens to the tree and part of the book I shipped AJ and Daisy and even though they’re like brother and sister it was kind of cute and that’d be so fun to see in third book. I also think that it would be cool if we find out more about the history of the original candy maker and more about daisy’s family. So basically I really want there to be a third book????.

    • Wendy Mass on November 5, 2020 at 10:10 am

Hi! I’m so glad you want more of the Candymakers b/c I’m currently writing a prequel that will star Logan’s grandfather when he was a child–so just what you suggested in that you’d learn more about how the factory came to be! I’ll post updates on it soon. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!! All my best! Wendy

  46. Adellaide on August 4, 2018 at 12:41 pm

Just a question: in the Chocolate Chase, the photograph company on the back of the photo (of Frank, Sam, Flo, and Henry) apparently never existed. But there wasn’t a reason given! Is it just a red herring or am I missing something?
I totally love the series, btw. 🙂

    • Wendy Mass on October 27, 2020 at 5:16 pm

Hi, it’s so funny that you bring that up because I’m working on a prequel to the series and realized that that was a thread I never pulled on. At the time I was writing the Chocolate Chase, I was thinking that it would play out in the story somewhere because they wouldn’t have wanted a photograph of Frank to be out there. But I just never circled back to it, so I’m thinking I will use it somewhere in the prequel. Thank you for being such a thorough reader 🙂 Wendy

    thank you

    • Wendy Mass on October 24, 2020 at 8:30 pm

Wow you’ve read them many more times than I have and giving you a big hug for that! I feel like I owe you the answer to your question so here it is…your guess is as good as mine. I have a few different options in my head depending on if I ever write a sequel, but right now I’m working on the prequel in graphic novel form so I won’t need to know the answer yet 🙂 All my best to you. xo, Wendy

Hi! I just wanted to say I LOVE this book and the first Candymakers book, and if you ever write a third I will be eagerly waiting for it. In the meantime, I may read your other books and draw lots of fanart! You might have seen my Candymakers art on my Instagram (jadegreenbun). Personally, my favorites are Logan and Phillip (and I’m not going to lie, i ship them a little, lol). All your characters are so full of life and personality, and all the twists kept me hooked for hours. Thank you for writing these wonderful books!!

Hi Wendy Mass I LOVE all your books I think you should make a third book about Logan, Daisy , Miles and Philip protecting the magic beans in paradise. I also think that since Philip had to withdraw the contest they should do a new contest and Logan would win and become the official owner of the candy factory and they would be protecting the beans and running the factory in a big adventure.

  55. Allie M. on April 2, 2020 at 10:08 pm

Dear Wendy Mass, I love to read. Last summer I read 144 books! (My school makes us keep a log) I am in 7th grade now but when I was in elementary school I had a very small library and I had read almost every book in there. One day I found 11 birthdays. I immediately fell in love with the story line because I too have a boy best friend that I have been friends with since birth. We do everything together, just like Amanda and Leo! Pre-fight of course. I immediately read the rest of the series when I was done. I then purchased the books so that I could always read them. I have read them so many times. I have read every one of your books. I always feel a connection to the stories. After finishing the Birthdays series I needed to find another book by you. Then I found it. “Candy makers”. I finished that and then when the second book came out a couple years later I read that. I loved your implication of Daisy and Philip’s relationship. Although I would love to see them become a couple, I understand if that was a one time thing. They were both going through troubling times with their families and they needed the loving support of a friend. That being said if you do make a third book (which I definitely think you should) I have some suggestions. I think that in the story they should be 13 (daisy being 14) and should be facing the troubles of growing up. Maybe Logan’s parents decide to put him in a real school so that he can get used to other people before entering the harsh world of high school. Perhaps create some sort of bully that teases him about his scars and wispy care-freeness that is normally instituted in girls. Miles might meet a girl while geocaching and try to figure out how to work up the courage to talk to her. If you liked my idea of Daisy and Philip maybe Daisy will be trying to hide their relationship from her grandma and parents. I know that her grandma said that they look the other way as long as it doesn’t get too serious but maybe Courtney and her boyfriend got serious and her grandmother had to separate them and doesn’t want to take anymore chances. Philip might be trying to decide how to tell Miles and Logan about his and Daisy’s relationship since he told Daisy he would take care of it. He might be nervous too to see how they would react because although he has changed a lot he is still kind of mean sometimes and they might not think that he does not deserve her, not that Philip thinks he deserves her either. He might also be tryin to bond more with his grandma and try to get his brother to stop pestering him about when he is going to join another contest and trying to give him more cheating tactics. Maybe his father in an attempt to bond with him, finds out more about his friends and doesn’t think they are a good influence on him (or rather a bad enough influence on him) and is trying to get him to break of all ties. I am sorry for making this so long I just really want another CandyMAkers book 😉 Please consider some of these ideas (or if you DONT at least make a third book)
    XOXO,
    Allie M.

    • Wendy Mass on November 5, 2020 at 9:48 am

Hi to you and your friend! I hope you’ll always be friends like Amanda and Leo! I’m so honored that both series took such special spots in your life, that is quite a compliment! I LOVE all your ideas!!! I don’t have plans to do another sequel as of now though, but will definitely hold onto your suggestions because I’ve learned to never say never!! Feel free to use the characters to write your own stories too, if you like! I think the prequel will wind up surprising you in that you’ll actually learn some answers to mysteries in the future books, it that makes sense. Big hugs to you both! Wendy

Sorry a little follow up on my other comment, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t make the next book a prequel, I was talking to my friends who have also read the book and they said that they really don’t feel the need for a prequel. Instead of giving us the answers to unanswered questions that way maybe incorporate those answers into questions asked on the way to solving the new mystery. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ack, so sorry!! I do hope you’ll still give the prequel a try. It was a lot of fun imagining what Logan’s grandfather was like (and Henry and some others!) as kids and their adventures that led to the candy factory. It will be out in 2024…
all my best wishes to you and your friends,
      Wendy

Will there be a Candymakers book 3? If so when will it come out? I can’t wait to read it.

    • Wendy Mass on October 23, 2020 at 3:34 pm

So glad you enjoyed them, hope you had plenty of candy with you. I’m currently working on a prequel, which will tell the story of Logan’s grandfather and his friends when they were kids. Right now I’m eating a lot of candy as research. I will update the blog in a few months with more information 🙂 Wendy

    Dear Wendy Mass,
I know it’s been a while since your last comment so I still hope you read these. I was wondering if you’ve started on the third candymakers? I know you are probably very busy but it would be wonderful to read that book. I’ve loved the journey that you take us on and when I read the Candymakers it’s like I can see the factory right in front of my eyes. Only a few authors can do that to a person. I recently just finished reading the second candymakers for the second time and fell in love with it again it’s such a great story. I think the only thing that was missing was a little romance. If you do end up writing the third book please remember to add a little more (Philip and Daisy?) thank you for taking the time to read this comment. I know that it is long
    Your biggest fan,
    Charlotte
P.S. it’s not only the Candymakers that I love I also love a mango shaped space 😁

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:39 pm

Hi Charlotte!! The third one is done!! (the writing part, that is), and it will come out in 2024! Can’t really say that there’s romance in this one, although two characters meet who will later fall in love, although they don’t know it yet!
      All my best to you!!
      Wendy

    Wendy;
Is there going to be a third book? I was at the edge of my seat for the first two!

    • Wendy Mass on October 23, 2020 at 3:10 pm

I’m so glad you enjoyed them, hope you had some candy by your side 🙂 I may write a sequel to the second one someday but for now I’m working on a prequel, which will show Logan’s grandfather and his friends as kids. May your life always be sweet (pun intended!) 🙂 Wendy

Hi Mrs. Mass I just wanted to say how amazing your books are. I especially liked the Willow Falls series, Every soul a Star, and the Candymakers. I liked your other books too, but these were my favorite. I was sad when I finished the last book of the Candymakers because it was so good. I really think you should consider making Candymakers a movie. I think it would become pretty popular for fans of your book, and even for people who haven’t read your books. I just wanted to say that you are my favorite author and how you write your books makes it feel like you are actually there. If you were already planning on making a movie, where would you film it? If you made a movie, it would be cool to see how you picture the characters as people in real life. Also, if you made the second book of the Candymakers a movie, it would be cool to see how you make the RV look. If you make the movie, I recommend making sure you use the perfect people for the roles or it could ruin the movie. please reply soon. P.S. when you made the Jeremy Fink movie why didn’t you make Lizzy’s hair red. I heard how you are making a prequel to the Candymakers, and I think it is going to be really cool. Will it show how Logan’s grandfather discovered Paradise? Last thing, I hope your talent for writing gets passed down to one of your children! God Bless.

    • Wendy Mass on April 1, 2023 at 12:00 pm

Thanks so much for reading the Candymakers so many times and the sequel, too! Movies would certainly be fun, I’d love to see that RV come to life (and then ride in it!!). The prequel will be out soon(-ish!) so I hope you’ll enjoy that, too! Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness, and many blessings to you, too!

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 6:37 pm

SO glad you discovered the audiobooks, I love the way they came out! The narrator has become a friend (even though they were LONG books that he had to read lol!). the third book is coming out in 2024, but is a prequel so unfortunately what happens with Logan and the beans will have to remain a mystery ;o).
All my best wishes to you!!
      Wendy

    Ms. Mass,

Wendy, you have inspired me BIG time! The Candymakers books made me feel like I belong. It is a wonderful story. There’s a lot of relationships that are lifetime bonds. I feel like we do need a third but, maybe it ended full of mystery. I’m looking forward to the prequel, ( Its been over 5 months since you said you were writing one so It may be out now, I have no idea.) I hope it holds adventure! Although, you really should consider making a Candymakers movie. ( Im sure you have considered this.) I would LOVE to have AJ and Daisy be siblings. Before, I did not get why AJ call Daisy, ” Oopsa,” but now I do! You should be honored, to know that your book ( Chocolate Chase) was the longest book I have read In my LIFETIME! It was so fun to read, so I hope you make a third.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Grace

Thank you so much, Emily!! And I really am honored about that being the longest book!! The Prequel will be out in 2024!!
      All my best to you!!

Hello! I absolutely adore the Candymakers series. You are on my list of top three favorite authors! I was reading your other comments and I was overjoyed when I saw you wrote that you were writing another book, called “Life is Sweet” based off of Logan’s grandfather. Your ability to tie four completely different lives together so harmoniously is just astonishing to read! You have inspired me to write a book as well. My favorite character is Daisy for sure. I also really appreciate the length of your books as well, I know it must be a lot to write, but it was such a good story line I never wanted it to end! Cant wait for the next book to come out,
    Lulu

    • Wendy Mass on August 2, 2022 at 1:38 pm

Hi Lulu!! Thank you so much for the kind words about the series, the new book is done (hurrah!!) and in the copyediting stage which is a very fun stage where a very talented person finds and corrects all my mistakes! That’s awesome about writing your own book! Let me know how it goes! :o) Wendy

I have read (almost) all the comments and your replies! Cant wait for a candymakers book 3 or prequel, And i would love to see something about Daisy and her spy school!

I loved your book. It was amazing. I loved all the new and old characters. I have read the first Candymakers book over 5 times, and hope to read it again soon. I love the way you write your books it’s so cool and interesting. I hope to read more of your books in the future.

Hi Wendy! I am 12 and love reading books, but I am very picky about which books to read. The first one of your books that I read was 11 Birthdays. I loved it! After that, I read all the other Willowfalls books. Then, I came across The Candymakers while looking for more books written by you. It was the best book I’d ever read. After that, I read The Candmakers and the Great Chocolate Chase. I don’t have any words to describe how amazing it was. The characters, suspense, and the story plot were unbelievable. Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, and a thousand more pleases write more books of the Candymaker series. I will die if you don’t. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Your biggest fan

I loved the Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase. It ended on such a cliffhanger! I am dying to know more. I was wondering whether you planned on making a 3rd book? If so I am excited!

I love your books and just got a mango shaped space. I noticed in the second candymakers book you added tiny crossovers with jeremy fink and the meaning of life and a mango shaped space! I am a huge fan of your books and want to be a writer when I grow up. I have a classmate whose grandpa said he would give her any book and she chose the candymakers! Also when is the third candymakers book coming out? No pressure, but I’m dying to know!!!
