HI everyone!
Happy to announce that 13 GIFTS, the next book in the series that began with 11 BIRTHDAYS and FINALLY, has hit the stores!! You’ll find all your favorite characters from the other two books, along with a lot of new ones. Enjoy!!

I LOVED every soul a star and the twice upon a time series. All of your books are so fantastic and I can’t wait for a fourth willow falls one! But I especially loved a mango shaped space because it made me laugh and cry over and over (all during study hall while my friends stared on!) Just finished your book, Wendy. No wonder you have the fans you do. So, so well done. Hi Wendy!!!! I loved this book, the birthday series is officially one of my favorite series of all time!!! I hope they try a movie i can already visualize it perfectly, and I would love to see Leo in a movie he seems so bubbly!
I loved how everything fit together- it was almost like a mystery but not exactly! I’ve read all your books and wasn’t disappointed one bit. I was a little confused at the end so if it’s just me who’s confused could you clear things up a little? but if it’s meant to be mysterious that’s ok, but i know im not going to be able to sleep at night trying to figure it out!
NOTE from wendy: I hope you got some sleep! You are right, it’s meant to be mysterious. I thought it would be fun to wrap up Tara’s storyline, but leave another one open to possibilities…and the sequel! :o)

In the book “Finally” my favorite part is when Rory gets the part for the movie Playing It Cool. You really make yourself sound like a kid. I also liked it when Rory got her cell phone . Do you think you’re going to make a giveaway for 13 gifts? I really need to know because I might get it soon and I think if you made a giveaway and signed the book it would be soooooooo cool! One of my other favorite authors did it, it was so fun I didn’t when though :(. When you write your fourth book you should have the main girl’s (or boy’s!) name start with a S or some thing else like that!

hi wendy! i just wanted to tell you that i had a total “jeremy fink moment”. ill explain: when i was little, i collected old locks. yesterday, i found a key in my basement, and decided to try it in the locks, and it worked! i was really surprised! haha. i have already read 13 gifts 13 times, by the way!

I just finshed “11 Birdays” and I LOVE it!!!!! Please keep writing those books! I didn’t kmow that “11 Birthdays” is in a series! I’m going to try hard to find “Finally” and “13 Gifts”. So, just finished the book, and loved it! So glad there’s gonna be a sequel! Coincidence(or not?) : I’m in a production of Fiddler on the Roof right now! I was surprised when I saw that in there, for sure!
Guess what??? Yesterday was our school book fair!!! I saw 13 gifts!! One copy left. See this is how Wendy Mass books started in our school, I saw 11 Birthdays in a book order. So I told my librarian about it and she ordered it for our library. I read it then I told my frIends. Then we started reading all your books! Anyway yesterday people were fighting over it. 1 copy let I grabbed it but then my friend said she wanted it so badly I didn’t know what to do! When I got to he car i started crying. Not because I didn’t get it but because I was so happy! I promised all my friends I would let them borrow it as soon as i finished! So happy!! Thanks for writing Amazing books!!!!

Hi wendy, im a little confused… why do amanda and leo have to communicate like that, and how does the friendship with rory and jake evolve into that? i didn’t read in the other books, i loved them so much! but i just didn’t really understand those things. especially the amanda and leo thing.
NOTE FROM WENDY: I think to really understand why Amanda and Leo are using the chalkboards, you have to have read 11 BIRTHDAYS. Not to say you can’t read it after 13 GIFTS. :o)
I read all the books in order and just read 11 birthdays again today and while in the shower (the place I think and make desicions) I just figured out why but I still don’t understand about the Grace part. It was an “ah-ha” moment for me and it made so much sense and was really cool! I really want Jake and Rory together and any other couples but thats just the romantic in me, the books are really good anyway. I super love the story line and how the characters and storylines in the series tie together but are seperate. I as many others would audition for a part in the movie, I think id make a good Amanda. Please read this post and I would be thrilled if you replyed! Thanks!!!

Is this book, 13 Gifts, age appropriate for a 9 year old that has already read 11 Birthdays? She wants to read it badly but I fear that a 13 yr old is going through very different things than a 9 yr old.

Hi! I read 11 Birthdays and Finally and I absolutely loved them! Honestly, your books are some of my favorites! I just found out you’d published 13 Gifts a couple of days ago and I started flipping out. I went and bought it yesterday and just finished it a few hours ago! It was amazing and I loved it just as much of the first two, though I must admit, the bit with Leo and Amanda confused me a little. It took me forever to figure out what was with the chalkboards, then I figured it out and felt like an idiot. 🙂 I can’t wait for the next book! 😀
What are the chalkboards for anyway?? and I’m at the part where they found ‘Angelias Sweet Repeats and Collectibles’ and why is Leo and Amanda so scared? i read 11 Birthdays and Finaly and is know who angelia is but is that her store? and why are they freaking out? will i find out later in the book? im only on page 86..

We thought so! I am the librarian assistant for the elementary schools in the New Hope-Solebury school district, and when our 3-5th grade students watched the Scholastic trailer for the book fair two weeks ago, it was fun to see the dawn of realization come over their faces as they realized they were seeing New Hope! They just couldn’t believe it. Pretty cool! Your books are very popular here at our library, and they were with the book fair as well.
I loved 13 gifts I have read the whole series of 11 birthdays!!! Me and my friend Blake were wondering if you are writing anouther book in the 11 birthday sereis. We absoltly loved all of the books in the series!! I can’t wait to see what happen will happen in the next book!! =)

Hi Wendy!!! Im your biggest fan EVER!!! I chose 13 gifts to comment on, because I’m reading it right now, and it ROX!!! I love the exciting, and warm feeling i get when I’m reading it. I got it from a book fair at my school, but sadly…they didn’t have FINALLY, so I’ve been waiting to read 13 gifts until I got FINALLY for Christmas. Im 1/4 way through 13 gifts, and its great!!! I love how you can (and have) write about pretty much any subject, and be just as good a writer as another book on a completely different subject. Has it always been you dream to be a writer? I’ve tried to write a book twice, but i can’t stick with my idea long enough. I wanted to get leap day, but the store nearest me didn’t have it, and the only available closest copy of it was across town!!! Well, I recommend your books to all my friends, and whenever someone sees me reading one of your books, they say, “oh! Ive read that! Its by Wendy Mass!!! ” My only other question to you is: Are you going to make a sequel to EVERY SOUL A STAR? It would be awesome if you made one about there lives after what happened at the Moon shadow camping ground. I would DEFINITELY read that!!!

OMG! I totally <3ed 13 Gifts!! Pretty pretty please make another book about David, he was one of my fave characters!! I love how Tara and him grew as characters and my fave part was when either when they were talking about his dad or when they were talking while everyone was setting up for his outdoor bar mitzbah (I'm not sure I spelled that right) but anyway please make another birthday series book!

I just finished 13 gifts and it is my favorite book ever!!! I’ve read the other 2 from Willow Falls and I absoultley love them! I got so involved in 13 gifts that I actually had a dream that I was a part of the book and me, Rory, Amanda, David, Leo, and Tara couldn’t find the trunk and shawl! Then we found it but David had to sing one of his jewish songs to open it! Crazy, right no lie though? Anyway I really hope you write another Willow Falls book. Also I hope in the next book that the characters from the last book are a big part in it. Especially Tara and David, I kind of thought that they might go out with out each other, just with the whole hand holding thing (So sweet!). Maybe you should just continue it with those characters but somehow a new person meets Angelina D’Angelo. Thats another thing she is a preety crazy old lady. Never gets old, and makes kids realize who they truley are. But overall I would just like to thank you for writing such great books! They really make you think and they have such a great story line! Hi! I’ve borrowed 11 Birthdays from my school library and that was my first book by Wendy Mass I’ve ever read. =) I loved it. So, when my schoolastic book fair came to my school, I just had to get 13 Gifts. That was a week ago, and in 3 days I finished it. Tonight I got Finally at Barnes & Noble and am loving it, too. My mom says I can’t read the twice upon a time series – yet. So, I agree with Ally, will there be a fourth book??? I really hope so, Wendy!!

My 12 year old daughter checked “13 Gifts” out at the library the other day, and yesterday afternoon she laid it on the table so she could start reading it after homework. I picked it up to browse through it, and then all life stopped for 4 hours while I devoured every page! Good thing it was sandwich night…. Anyway, it was absolutely wonderful, and I am going today to get the first two books for the two of us to read as well. I did have a few questions though(carefully worded-don’t want to spoil anything): 1. Will the thing at the end with Leo and Amanda be explained in the next book (which is coming out soon, I hope!)? 2. There was never an explanation for why David couldn’t “see”…is that explained in a previous book, or will it be in the next one? Or is it just a mystery? Thank you for not only writing books that I can trust for my children to read, but books that are entertaining enough for us to read together!

In Finally nothing reeally happened between them, but then in 13 gifts Rory seems like a different person and you don’t really find out what happened between them!!! I NEEEED to find out!! I have recently finished 11 Birthdays, 13 Gifts, and Finally (all in that order) and I have a little trouble trying to understand Finally. When I was reading 13 Gifts, it talks briefly about Rory and Jake’s relationship. I assumed that Finally would talk more about their relationship and I didn’t fully understand what was going on. Is there going to be another book that will be added to the series to explain their relationship or….? Please reply back if you can. Thank you very much; I am a big fan of your books! 😀

So in 13 Gifts, you realize that they had been keeping in touch that whole year. I hope that clears things up…but in the next book I’ll take your comment into consideration and try to fill in some blanks. :o)

Omigosh I luv your books SOOOOOOO much!About a year or so, my sister checked out 11 Birthdays and it looked so awesome that I wanted to read it too.I COULD NOT WAIT AT ALL for her to even get half way through it so I did what I had to do… I STOLE IT!!!! Dun dun duh!I hid every where around the house from my closet to the bathtub just so I could read it without her attacking me for it(I stole the Lightning Thief from her too btw)I read 13 Gifts before I read Finally at the begining of this school year and there was a humongous gigantic hole like Aunt Bethany’s swimming pool hole.Then about 2 or 3 weeks ago my mom got a Kindle because of my reading disorder(It’s not a real disorder I just love to read so much I read away my Mom’s money cause I buy so many books)and I finally read Finally(pun intended)After I finished Finally I read and just finished 13 gifts for the secound time. And that is saying a lot about your books because I don’t even like watching TV shows twice( The only other books I have read twice are The Lost Hero, The Son of Posiden, and Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you see?)When I read 13 gifts I again feel like I can’t wait another second for the next book. I think I can guess and also know because your notes on other reviews that it will follow up on after the end of 13 Gifts,Grace will be the main character,and we will learn about Angelina more, but what I still don’t get is the Leo and Amanda chalkboards thing even though that was almost like every question out of the 90 comments. So is it like the year they didn’t talk? How does it have to do with Grace? I know the answer is You’ll find it out in the next book, but I had to ask cause I am incapable of waiting. Do you think it would make more sense if I read 11 Birthdays again? This is off topic, but if they ever make a movie it would be SOOO awesome to be either Annabelle or Amanda because I have blonde hair and blue eyes and I turned 13 November 20th, 2011. although I have no musical talent so I might not be able to play Amanda. Also off topic’ but I think it’s SOOO cool you are in pictures with some other of my favorite authors like Lauren Myracle(the power flower series is awesome if you haven’t read it you should.)Rick Riordan(I love Percy Jackson!!!!!!)and Michal Buckly(sisters Grimm is awesome)Again, Thanks for Writing such great books!

OMG, OMG, OMG! A fourth book? This I haven’t even heard of! 😀 Oh, my goodness, I thought 13 Gifts might have been the last one, and I swear after I couldn’t find anything about a fourth Willow Falls book, I started CRYING. The Willow Falls setting just seems so… so real, and like a place I could actaully visit. Like it existed in America, but I can’t think of any state in America that could house Willow Falls. I HEART your books, and I just finished A Mango-Shaped Space. It would mean the world to me if you could reply, you are by far one of the BEST authors I’ve ever read books by! And I do have 2 questions:
If Willow Falls was a real place, what state do you imagine it might be in?
And…
I see lots of comments about a Grace in 13 Gifts or one of your books, but I am racking my brain, and I can’t remember a Grace! Can you recall to me who she was and what her part was in the books?

Hi from way too long ago!! There turned out to be 5 in the Willow Falls series, I hope you found them, they were a joy to write. It would definitely be fun to see FINALLY made into a movie, hopefully the whole series will one day find a place on the big (or small!) screen. Fingers still crossed!

Yes I’m the same Grace from 91 but I would just like to say if Finally was made into a movie I would be perfect for Rory! I have brown hair, glasses and I’m good at blending in with the background. Plus I’m just like her character so it wouldn’t be hard for me to act her. I’ll turn twelve in September so then I’ll be the perfect age. I just finished 13 Gifts, and it was really amazing. I love the series, with 11 Birthdays, Finally, and 13 Gifts. Willow Falls has grown on me. I read some of the NOTE FROM WENDY’s, and those answered a lot of my questions. Although, I still have one question;I read 11 Birthdays and I still don’t understand why they use chalkboards to talk in 13 Gifts? Will that be cleared up in the 4th book in the series?

NOTE FROM WENDY: I like the Leo idea, and have considered that, too, but I think the POV will be from a different character, although it will be a boy. As for your question, all i can say is that Angelina *may* be behind the whole thing with the chalkboards…you’ll find out in book 4 though. ;o)

I have a habit of becoming friends with writers, so I know better than to interfere with writers’ ideas, but I’m also not the best at keeping things to myself. I just thought it would be incredibly fantastic, if, perhaps, (I’m talking about the willow falls books btw) instead of continuing with new situations, we could start over (wow I used we…) with Leo and Amanda (you could change it, and make it from Leo’s pov maybe?). I’m DYING to know what’s up with the chalkboards, and I feel like I’ll lose the feel of the characters if there are too many involved with angela. I’m sure you’re already writing, but just a thought…
ALSO! In this sci fi/fantasy/dystopian craze your books are some of the only incredible realistic(ish) fiction I’ve been able to find.

(I’m now reading it for the 3rd time. :)) I cannot wait until the 4th book comes out! I’m so excited to read that one and find out what happens! I do have a question though. In 13 Gifts, it’s mentioned that David is Bee Boy from 11 Birthdays. Wasn’t Bee Boy a 6th grader in 11 Birthdays? So is David older than the rest of them? Just wondering. Oh my gosh, the 14 book will be the last? WHYYYY???? I wanted there to be books until, like 16. I’m so attached to the characters, and my favorite is David (He’s like so cute).
This is my favorite one plot-wise, but 11 birthdays is my favorite chracter-wise. Finally is the most relateable, since it deals with preteen issues and not magic overload (I mean that in the nicest way possible, promise!)
You have inspired me to write stories for my friends and family. I’m writing a very long fantasy/adventure story. I used the names Leo, David, and Amanda. I wanted to use Tara, but I changed to a similar name instead, Cara.
And now, thanks to me, all of my friends want to read your books!

I LOVE these books… I especially how you mentioned the characters from the previous books. 😀 Sometimes I wish I could live in Willow Falls. 😀 If I had 3 wishes, that would be one of them. When I grow up want to be an author. You have really inspired me. One of my ideas is about a 6th grade girl and a boy who are best friends. Like Amanda and Leo but not born on the same day. Lots of things happens to the girl Autumn and her brother and their parents. But during the book the Autumn one day as Autumn and Day are walking home from school but suddenly she falls to ground. For years, Autumn hasn’t waken up and during that time, it’s in Day’s perspective. Then she wakes in the end. I would call it “Blacked out”. What I have now isn’t great. Just so you know I really don’t care if you take that idea and change it a little… 😀

I just finished reading 13 Gifts and I’m kind of bummed out because after I finish it I realize there were prequels to it. I just can’t believe I didn’t know that. I decided I really wanted to read this book because the main character has the same name as me (I’m not joking my name really is Tara!). I could not put the book down. It was soo interesting and I absolutely loved it. I now have to work my backwards and read all the other prequels. I can’t wait untill the next one comes out. I love these books so much! Yeah, I’m almost fourteen, but don’t say I’n too old for them…THEY ARE AMAZING. 😀 I don’t know which book is my favorite, probably 13 Gifts, but like I said, THEY ARE ALL AMAZING. I want to be an author and Wendy Mass and Lois Lowry are basically my idols!! 😀
I also love acting, and it would be SO AWESOME if these books were made into movies…wink, wink, nudge, nudge, cough, cough… 😀

I love all of your books and will always love them. I truly do believe that they have changed my life in many ways and have opened my eyes. I love the morals of each story and have helped me in more ways then one could possibly ever imagine. I had just finished every soul a star and would re-read it if I could because I loved it. I’m making a list of the great things books have taught me and have included my favorite thing like “life is short but it’s wide” and “the universe doesn’t care about our motives only our actions.” I have read each Book 3 times ( the birthday ones) and when I finished 13 gifts for the 3 time I had a look on my face like I had when I had finished the 7th Harry potter that’s how amazing I thought it was. On my list it has lessons from various authors from John green to Lucy maud Montgomery.
I loved them I read 13 gifts the first time a few days before my 13 birthday and finished it around midnight. I guess you could say It helped my soul become one. I have a saying now sanare mundum totorum it’s Latin for heal the world whole. Thank you so much I will love and cherish them forever and will have a special place in my heart. Every single day I try to see instead of look because looking is seeing with your eyes closed. I you were to read this ( and not be a Peter van houghten which I’m guessing you arent) and relply I would have a major fangirl attack and it would have made my day. So thank you I have read 11 birthdays, finally, 13 gifts, Jeremy fink and the meaning of life, every soul a star, and a mango shaped space. OMG!! I just noticed something!! All these books are connected!!!! WOW! I noticed it while I was reading 13 gifts and Rory said her and Jake Harrison were just friends! Then it all came back to me!!! OMG!! And I didn’t read 11 Birthdays, but I did some research and turns out It’s about Amanda and Leo!!! Omg! How did I not notice! I feel so stupid! Now that I’ve noticed that all the number books are connected, It makes me love these books 10 times more!!!! I think I’m gonna read 11 birthdays now even though I’m thirteen! I read 11 birthdays, finally, and 13 gifts a few years ago. I was sad because 13 gifts left you with questions at the end. I hope you make a book with 14 on it. Also make a movie about the books, i would watch it. I loved the Jeremy Fink movie and the book.

I absolutely love your books! I get in trouble all the time at school, because I would rather read your books than a silly American history book! 🙂 No Lie! I have recently reread all of my books by you! I cannot wait for a “14” book. I love the Willow Falls series. After every book, I think, “Wow!” I never saw that coming! You do such an amazing job writing your books and they couldn’t be any better! The 11 Birthdays was so good about how they stopped the repeating day, and Rory was laugh out loud funny in Finally! She had so many things happen to her that I could never have thought of and then adding Tara in 13 Gifts! She was a new character, but also brought back all of the old ones! I know I have already told you this, but I really really love your books! I get so happy when you release a new one! I make my mom rush over to Barnes and Noble! I have people call me a book worm, but that is only true for when I’m reading a Wendy Mass book, and I wouldn’t want it any other way! I remember getting my first book by you when I was in 3rd grade I think. It was “Every Soul a Star” and I remember how mush I enjoyed it and still do! After that I read a lot of other books by you, an always recommend your books to my friends! Your books always make me feel right at home and I love that!!! I have met you in person a few times and I have a question… I literally just finished reading 13 gifts, and I am confused… Amanda and Leo went to the hospital… I’m guessing.. but what does that mean? I guess they found why they are there? But, to me I wish I knew what was wrong? Or what else happened… Do you think you could make a fourth book? Answering my questions? Perhaps about what happened with Tara and David and what happened to Grace? Well obviously up to you! If you want… make it a cliff hanger! I love, love, LOVE your books!! You are by far my favorite author. I have read The Candy Makers (and loved it). And I’m beyond excited to hear that you are writing another book in the Willow Falls Series. I was left hanging at the end of 13 gifts two years ago, when it came out, and couldn’t wait for another. I am now rereading the series to prepare for the new book THE LAST PRESENT! which I have already preordered!!! I am so excited to read it, but I’m upset that it will be the last book in the series!!! I would be happy if it went to 102!! Just kidding, but I LOVE your books!!! I think that you should keep going after 14!! You should do a book from Leo’s POV!! That would be AWESOME! As I finished 11 birthdays today, I had a huge AHA moment at the end! I might have figured out the whole chalkboard and Grace thing…… maybe!

Hi Wendy mass. I just finished 13 Gifts and it was an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC book!!!!!! The book was like a puzzle. I would be collecting the pieces and when I put together the big pieces, I would see i left out some small ones. But then you would lead us back to the beginning to show us the small pieces we missed which puts together the big picture. Your writing in this book is amazing. Everything was interconnected and everything happened for a reason. You slightly foreshadowed events which I didn’t really notice the first time but once something happens, you are able to go back and refer to that foreshadowing event and it all clicks together. Sorry if I’m not making sense. I’m starting on The Last Present tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it! xD

Friendship means that you have a friend that has your back, will do anything for you, knows when something is wrong, and helps you through everything. 13 Gifts is the book that made me realize what the real definition of Friendship means. When Amanda and Leo can’t talk so they have to talk on chalkboards that made me think. It made me think if they have to write everything they wanted to say to each other on a chalkboard won’t they get tired of doing that? That also made me realize that they wouldn’t get tired because friendship is what matters to them and they would do anything for their friendship.
Tara, a character in the book moves to Willow Falls. I can relate to this because I moved to Indiana from Florida. I was really sad about not seeing my florida friends everyday but then I read this book. This book made me realize that I would do anything for my friendships in Florida. At this day I still talk to my friends in florida.
This book inspired me because it taught a me a lesson. Whether it’s long distance or short distance the real definition of friendship still applies. Friendship comes and goes with some people, but the ones that you treat with the definition of friendship, they stay.

I recently started reading your books and I’m a fan.
I started Eleven Birthdays and couldn’t stop!
It was interesting to follow the story of how Amanda and Leo were trapped in the same day and how they became friends again.
I also liked that there was an enchantment that linked their families together.
I quickly began reading Finally 12 and was disappointed that the story isn’t about Amanda and Leo that it is about Rory.
I would really love it if you would write a 2nd story about Amanda and Leo after the enchantment was over, maybe when they are older.
