Beauty and the Beast, not just a Disney movie

I have lots of notes for a real blog post, but it will have to wait till I hand in the revisions for PI IN THE SKY, due in a week. So until then I just wanted to share this picture of a lovely cardboard display that a friend of mine snapped at his local Barnes & Noble store. All the books in the Twice Upon a Time series are here: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (brand new!) and the other two paperbacks, RAPUNZEL and SLEEPING BEAUTY. So if you’re looking for some funny books to take to camp, or the beach, or your backyard, or your front stoop, or wherever you like to read in the summer, look no further.

Cheers!

Wendy

This movie, Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life sounds awesome
! I loved the book, and the guy that plays Jeremy is super cute:) You are an awesome person. Your book, Every Soul A Star is very inspirational. It encouraged me to do the unexpected for me. I love you Wendy Mass…as an author:)!

I love your books, Wendy! You’re by far one of my favorite authors, and I LOVE !2 Finally. It’s kinda like me. I’m !0 and want a cell phone, but I have to wait until I’m 12. And I have to be 12 to walk in the mall with just a friend. I love the CandyMakers, too. I have a question-Does Daisy ever find out her last name? Any way, you inspire me SOOOO MUCH! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR BOOKS!

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 11:44 am

Ha, great question. As of the end of CM2, she still doesn’t know her last name. If there’s ever a follow up, I’ll have to be sure to include that. it would be funny if it was a really common name, after all. So sorry for the delay in posting this, hope you’ve been great!! xo Wendy

  4. Emily on June 23, 2012 at 9:16 am

Hi, Wendy! My name’s Emily and I LOVE your books. I once had a dream about meeting you in real life. Anyway, I just got an email from you this morning and I am so excited about The Jeremy Fink And The Meaning of Life movie!! I have netflix, and I am going to see about watching it today. Since my parents say I’m not quite old enough to read the Twice Upon A Time series yet, I am happy that you have published yet another wonderful book that I can read in the future. I am also thrilled about Pi Day, which my teacher, (a big fan of yours, too!) says she plans to read to my class next year when it comes out. I also can’t wait to read the next in the Willow Falls series, since 11 Birthdays was the first AMAZING book written by you. Again, I love all of your books and I hope you are having an awesome summer!
    From, your friend, Emily =)

NOTE FROM WENDY: Hi Emily! You’re so sweet! I hope you enjoy the movie. The Twice Upon a Time books are actually the youngest of my books, suitable for 4th grade and up. (some 3rd grade teachers read them to their classes). Have a great summer, too!

    • RUNNER on August 12, 2014 at 2:22 pm

    Hi!
I love A Mango-Shaped Space. I am learning chinese and I know it has been translated, and would like to read it. Do you know where I could get it?

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 11:41 am

Hi! I hope you’ve found it by now and had fun comparing the texts, very cool on learning Chinese!!

  7. Ishaana on June 26, 2012 at 7:56 pm

I know it doesn’t make sense that I posted this here(I also posted it on the 13 gifts page), but I thought maybe, there was a greater chance of you reading it here considering the one-hundred-something comments on the 13 gifts page, so here goes:

I have a habit of becoming friends with writers, so I know better than to interfere with writers’ ideas, but I’m also not the best at keeping things to myself. I just thought it would be incredibly fantastic, if, perhaps, (I’m talking about the willow falls books btw) instead of continuing with new situations, we could start over (wow I used we…) with Leo and Amanda (you could change it, and make it from Leo’s pov maybe?). I’m DYING to know what’s up with the chalkboards, and I feel like I’ll lose the feel of the characters if there are too many involved with angela. I’m sure you’re already writing, but just a thought…

ALSO! In this sci fi/fantasy/dystopian craze your books are some of the only incredible realistic(ish) fiction I’ve been able to find.

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 11:35 am

HI! I finally wrote back to your last one, so sorry for the delay! I love your ideas, and wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve become a writer now1 xoxo Wendy

    Dear Wendy,

You are my favourite author ever!!!!!!! Thank you for writing such amazing books! When I was watching the Jeremy Fink movie, I saw someone, and she looked sooo familliar. All of a sudden, I was like, “Hey, that’s Wendy Mass! I recognize her from her website!” Anyway, you’ve inspired me to write a book with my little brother. I wrote you a letter, I hope you can write back. Thank you so much!!

    Love,
    Kendall

    • Wendy Mass on June 4, 2018 at 10:36 am

You have a good eye! They asked me to play a Girl Scout leader. That is great that you and your little brother will write a book together. Happy Summer β˜€οΈ

Hi Wendy!! I totally LOVE your books. I think you are an AMAZING author! I just finished reading 13 Gifts and I am reading the twice upon a time series right now. I LOVED the 11 Birthdays and 12 Finally books. I was wondering if you were going to write another book with one of Tara’s friends turning 14. I also really want to read the Pi Day Book too because at my school we have a contest to see who can memorize the most pi digits. I also saw the Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life movie and I loved it! I love your books and can’t wait to read more!! Happy Fourth of July!!

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 11:31 am

So glad you saw the movie! I don’t think I’ll have the kids turn 14 but they get close by the end of the series. Pi contests are so much fun! Greetings from far into the future from when you wrote this! xo, Wendy

Just finished “13 Wishes”! AWESOME book!!! After I finished it I immediately thought of the perfect title for a continuation of the “Willow Falls” series, if you decide to write one: 14 Wishes. You don’t have you use it; you’re the author, after all.

    • Wendy Mass on June 4, 2018 at 9:54 am

So happy you loved 13 & thank you for the title idea! Happy Summer β˜€οΈ

  11. Maria Castellanos on July 6, 2012 at 9:56 pm

Hi Wendy! You write my favorite books. Every Soul A Star is my all time favorite book and Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is my second. I just finished watching that movie but as always I didn’t enjoy as much as the book but only because everybody has a picture in their head. Although it was simular, the characters where not what I would choose. I am actually rereading Every Soul A Star and I just keep loving it!

    • Wendy Mass on August 27, 2016 at 9:49 pm

I understand about having pictures in your head. This is why I always try to read the books before the movies. I hope you enjoy the new Candymakers!

  12. Rachel on July 8, 2012 at 5:24 pm

    Hello, Wendy!!!
Even though this doesn’t relate to your post, I just wanted to say that I absolutely ADORE your Willow Falls series and i can’t wait for the final book to come out! When it does, I’m going to call that sparta bookstore and ask for you to sign it! I have also read all of your other books and series, but the Willow Falls series is my favorte! I also want to tell you that you have inspired me to write a book. I’m almost done, but it’s going to be a lot shorter than your books- about 50 pages in all. Still, I am ecstatic! When it comes out, I will find a way to let you know about it! πŸ™‚ Someday, I hope to meet you! πŸ™‚

    ~ Rachel, your biggest fan!

    • Wendy Mass on December 10, 2022 at 11:30 am

Hi, I’m sure I signed those books a long time ago so I’m glad we connected back then and I’m so sorry for not seeing this earlier. I hope I’ll get to hear how your own book turned out!! All my best! xo Wendy

    Dear Wendy Mass,
I woke up really early this morning just so I could finish the book A Mango Shaped Space. Can I just say wow!!! Every time i read one of your books I fall in love with each and every one of them. It is no joke that I have never read a better book than one of yours. When you wrote that Mia woke up with mustard taste in her mouth at the end of the book, I immidiatly thought about how Mango was probably really proud of Mia and so was her Grandpa.
Your books are so inspirational and i hope you continue being the most outstanding writer that you are!
P.S~ I have already read 11 Birthdays, Finally, 13 Gifts, Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, and now A Mango shaped space!!! Now I can pick up another one of your books, I am so excited πŸ™‚ Sincerely,
    Ashley B.

    • Alice on September 20, 2012 at 8:07 pm

ikr! I’ve read of of them, and so far, mango shaped space was my favorite one and very inspirational!:D It was a very sad book that made me cry. I wonder how you write books so sad and very great and very inspirational and so good I finish it in less than a day!

      Keep writing!

I luv your books (twice upon a time series) and I was hoping that you could write a lot more. I have a little sister and we found all of these princesses you could write about…… Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine, Ariel, Pocahontas,Kida (from Atlantis),Mulan, Kilala, Tiana, Anastasia, Maid Marian, Megara, Mei, Melody (from the little mermaid 2) and Alice (she is not a princess but it would still be fun to write about!). If you do take my ideas I will be dying to read them. You truly inspire me!!
