Holiday Wishes

Happiest of holidays to all!! I hope yours is filled with laughter and love! (and chocolate. ;o)

Thank you to everyone who gave suggestions for the last Willow Falls book in the previous post. It’s almost done and I’m pretty sure I was able to get everything in. Keep ’em coming for the next few weeks as the book is edited, though, since there’s still a chance to squeeze things in at that point.

And as always, if you’d like autographed books for yourself, your school, as gifts, etc, I’m partnering up withΒ Sparta Books, my wonderful local indie bookstore. If you call them and place an order and tell them how you’d like them signed, I’ll go in and sign them, they’ll mail them out.Β  Voila! Easy peasy!

  1. Abby on December 13, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Have a happy holiday to you too! Did you make a wish on 12/12/12? It seem like the sort of thing that Rory would do πŸ˜‰

NOTE FROM WENDY: what a great idea that would have been! wish i’d thought of it! i’ll have to remember to put some of Rory’s wishing into the next book. thx!

  2. Willow on December 13, 2012 at 11:04 pm

Happy holidays to you too! I just finished reading A mango shaped space. It was so well written. I cried so hard when Mango died though. I thought it was so cool how Mia could see all of those colours and shapes. I am asking for lots of your books for Christmas! Thank-you Wendy for inspiring me to shoot for the stars and follow my dreams.

  3. Girl who loves Wendy Mass's books on December 17, 2012 at 5:49 pm

You’ve never really had any dreaming in any of the books, it would be fun to see Amanda dreaming… YOU ARE SO AWESOME!

    • Wendy Mass on August 18, 2016 at 11:42 pm

I really like that idea! Cool concept!

  4. Holly on December 18, 2012 at 3:38 pm

Hey Wendy!!! Your books are amazing and you are my favorite author! I think this will be the best willow falls book! Will it include previous characters such as Leo, amanda, rory, etc.? I hope so!! As the above person said, you should do something I the book about a date like 12-12-12 or a time like 11:11! Just some ideas!! Good luck with editing! πŸ˜€
PS in the future, you should write more books with every characters’ view like the candymakers and every soul a star!

    • Wendy Mass on August 17, 2016 at 9:40 pm

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the new Candymakers!

  7. Maya on December 24, 2012 at 9:25 pm

Hi Wendy, i was just wondering why in the “books” page in your website “Leap Day” is listed as part of the Willow Falls series? Is that right? Was Leap Day really set in Willow Falls?
    Really confused,

NOTE FROM WENDY: Thanks so much for the heads up on that error!! Newly updated web site, some tweaks still need to be done! You rock!

  8. Claire on December 25, 2012 at 1:50 pm

    Hi Wendy,

My goal is to read ALL of your books! I’m almost there!
Right now I’m reading The Candymakers and it’s AWESOME:)

    Well, back to the book!

    I can’t wait! I am super excited!

  11. kaitlyn on December 27, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Oh my goodness i’m typing to you!!! I’m such a big fan and happy holidays. Last time I read your site it said ” Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life” was being turned into a movie. I can’t wait but I also haven’t heard anything yet. When is the birthday series in movie form coming. The first book I read of ypurs was “11 Birthdays” and I haven’t been able to stop. I’ve read at least most of your books twice already.
    Please reply.

NOTE FROM WENDY: Hi Kaitlyn! Jeremy Fink is out now on DVD so check it out. No bites yet on the birthday series being made into a movie but i’ll for sure let you know! xo

    • Skylie on December 28, 2012 at 10:14 pm

owww man i really want to see it in movie fotm

  12. Abigail on December 28, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Just wondering, in 11 birthdays Amanda mentions that david is in the grade ahead of them, but in 13 gifts, Tara acts like he is their age?

NOTE FROM WENDY: Hi! I meant to explain that in one of the books–i think it says something like David had been put in the advanced science class which was made up of 6th graders, which would explain why Amanda thought he was a grade ahead…hopefully it’s in there, either in Finally or 13 Gifts. xoxo

  13. Ella on December 30, 2012 at 9:24 am

    Happy holidays!
Hi wendy mass I’m a big fan and love the willow falls books I was wondering if you were writing any books right now. If so what do you think you are going to name it and when will it be done?
I hope your having a great holiday season!

  14. Sydney Jones on December 30, 2012 at 10:41 am

Hi Ms. Wendy. Your books are so good! I recently just finished Leap Year and it was so good! I am also very excited for the new Willow Falls book to come out! It’s my favorite series ever! I had a question for you, do you think you can have Tara and “Bee Boys'” relationship be more exposed? I would love that because I think they would be a great couple! And do you know when the next book will be out?(; thanks and keep on writing like you do!

  15. Carly on December 30, 2012 at 7:40 pm

    Hello Wendy Mass,
I am a very big fan of your books. I am in fifth grade and alot of kids in my class have been reading your books. For the holidays, I got 2 of your books and I finished them in no time. They are a amazing. . I would love to know some other reccomendations of your books. Which ones do you think I would enjoy as much as the other? The books I got over the holiday were:
    1. The Candymakers
    2. Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life.
I watched the movie of Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life. I pay such close attention while I am reading your books, I wrote down things they forgot in the movie that were in the book. I came up to 4 whole pages! I would love you to respond to this letter I wrote.
    Thank you,

NOTE FROM WENDY: Wow, Carly! 4 pages! You worked hard!! I’d say the movie really kept the heart of the story intact, while making some changes to make it more cinematic. It’s hard to fit everything in a book into a 90 minute movie. I hope you enjoyed it! I think for other recommendations, you can try Every Soul a Star and A Mango-Shaped Space. You could also read 11 Birthdays, which takes place in 5th grade. All my best to you!

    • FutureBallerina on January 9, 2013 at 12:42 am

Hi Wendy!! I am a huge fan!! I have read EVERY SINGLE ONE of your books and absolutely LOVE them all!!!!!! You are such an amazing writer!!
I am an aspiring ballerina who loves to read and write. I have filled up 2 notebooks with short stories and all kinds of inspiration and ideas and you have been one of my greatest sources of inspiration! Your writing is the kind that whisks you away and keeps you turning the pages until the book is done.
It was kind of funny how I first found out about you and your books. I was looking for a book to read in the local library one day, and I saw a mango-shaped space and checked it out. I got in the car to go home and I started reading it. By the time we were home I had read the first 3 chapters and had no intention of stopping! I read the whole book cover to cover and when I was done, I got online and ordered all of your books from the library! I read them all in one month and didn’t even get a library fine because I had read them so fast!! πŸ˜‰ I’m sorry if I have been a bother writing such a loooong comment. I’ll wrap it up now but I have one last thing to say…..
I’ve already said it but I’ll say it again just in case you missed it the first time(though I doubt that you did) πŸ˜‰ I LOVE your books and writing and I adore you! I’m also so excited for all the books you are going to write!! You are amazing!!!!! (and don’t forget it!!) πŸ˜‰

NOTE FROM WENDY: you’re so sweet!!! That’s really cool that you dance and write, too!lol on not getting a library fine. i honestly don’t think i’ve ever managed to return a book on time. i joke that i’m putting my librarian’s kids through college. ;o)

  16. Jamison on December 31, 2012 at 4:42 pm

Hi Wendy Merry christmas and a happy 2013. I got twister dance. What did you get for christmas? So I hope you used my idea and i hope the book will be the best book ever. Well all of your books are my favorite. I’m in fith grade so it is going to be really interested in the last book. I hope that there will be a movie on all books in the Willow Falls series. I hope they will also have auditions. I want to try out for Leo. I think your the best autor in universe. Well have a wonderful day.

PS: Please respond I will be so happy

  17. Nur on January 1, 2013 at 11:23 am

    Happy New Year!
I hope you had a wonderful time! I was just asking some question. Can you please answer them and reply to me?
Will there be another The Candymakers book? I loved it so much!
Also, will some unanswered things be on your new willow series book?
    Thank you,

  18. Jasmine on January 2, 2013 at 8:22 pm

Hi Wendy Mass. I have a suggestion for the Willow Falls book. It might be too late but I hope you will read this. I think you should explain why everyone could see inside Angelina’s shop, but David could not. I know that everyone else was involved with Angelina in some way, but I still don’t really understand this. Thank you for writing this series! I can’t wait for the next book.
    P.S. Happy New Year!

  19. Molly Lynn on January 3, 2013 at 6:16 pm

    Hi Wendy!!

I love your books so MUCH!! I have read your books so many times I have lost count! I got for christmas the “Twice upon a time” series and I have read all of them all ready! My favorite was “Sleeping Beauty” I think I am most like Sara! I would totally got to sleep with my best friends if they were cursed! Are there going to be more in that series? I think you should right more! One of my other favorites is “A mango shaped space” in that book I acctually cried! I was reading it durring class and I literally started crying and everyone was like are you okay. But then I explained and then others wanted to read it to!
    Love your books!
    Molly Lynn

    Hiya, Wendy!
So, I just finished reading 12 Finally. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, I’m done. Haha, sorry about all the exclamation points. (!) Okay, so, I have read, so far, 11 Birthdays, and 12 Finally. I <3 Them! By any chance, are there any movies about them???? I need them to be in existance if they aren't. Like seriously. Haha.

    Movie wanter,
    Haaaaaallllieeeeeeee πŸ™‚
PS. I love how Rory freaks out in the book about riding in the front seat. I just turned 11, but I've been riding up front since age 10. πŸ™‚

  21. Shay on January 4, 2013 at 5:23 pm

Oh my gosh! I just wanted to tell you how much I love your books!!!
Right now I’m fourteen and all my friends are into their super serious James Patterson books, but I’m still reading Every Soul a Star for , like the 20th time!!!
I also love Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life.
    And 11 Birthdays.
    And a Mango Shaped Space.
And pretty much everything you write!!!
I just have a question: have you ever seen an eclipse in person?
After i read Every Soul a Star, you got me seriously interested in eclipses! Seeing an eclipse is now on my Things To Do Before I Graduate High School List!

NOTE FROM WENDY: only a few more years to the eclipse here in America! Not sure if you’ll graduate first, but you just might make your goal! It will be my first, too. Lunar eclipses are a lot more common and really cool to watch, so be on the lookout for them. xo

  22. Jessica on January 5, 2013 at 1:57 pm

    Hi Wendy Mass,
I LOVE your books! So far I’ve only read The Candymakers, and Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life. But, I got a 70 dollar Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas, so I’m going to use it on your books. Also, I love writing too. When I grow up, I want to be a writer. When I was in second grade, I was in the gifted writing program, and one of the stories I wrote almost got published! I can’t wait to be a writer, but I’ll never be as great as you!
    Please reply,

    Hello Wendy Mass,
I loved reading your book 11 Birthdays. I also picked its because i am 11. But 11 Birthdays is my favorite book. Don’t you think there should be a movie about is too?
I would love it if you respond.
    Thank You,

    Hey Wendy,

Just wanted to let you know that I love your books and I have read them about 3 times each.
I am a little confused about what happened to Grace in 13 Gifts. Will that be included in the next book?
One more thing, what is the name of the next book?

  25. Skye on January 6, 2013 at 2:47 pm

I just read a Mango Shaped Space. It was really good, but sad near the end. I was wondering, are you a synesthete? I’m thirteen and have lexical synesthesia, like Mia. You did a really good job of describing what it was like to have synesthesia! I am a big fan of yours!

NOTE FROM WENDY: That’s very cool that you have synesthesia! I don’t, but i really enjoyed learning about it! enjoy your colorful world. :o)

  30. Tara on January 9, 2013 at 12:02 am

    Hi Wendy!
I was wondering if you could write a book along the lines of Mango Shaped space. Its my new favorite book because unlike your other books the main character is different, and yes mostly all your characters aren’t normal either but Mia was different don’t know how to explain it. Mia saw different things she had a disease that i never heard of.And seeing everything through her eyes was the most exillorating feeling i had when reading this book.As if i was Mia,seeing the world as she all the the books you written and i read this book touched me like no other.I thought you did a awesome job.And i can not stress how much you need to write another book like that.

NOTE FROM WENDY: Thank you for your kind words about Mango!! You might want to try The Candymakers, there are some characters in there who see things differently, but i guess mia’s pretty unique in how she sees everything. :o)

Is the next Willow Falls book going to be the last? Because I love them and I hope you keep writing this series.

  40. Brianna on June 7, 2013 at 7:13 pm

Hi Wendy! Agh, I’m so frustrated… I am horrible about keeping up with your blog and didn’t see this post until now. Unfortunately your 4th Willow Falls book is probably past the point of editing, but I wanted to throw a few things in… I know you’re going to cover all the relationships between Rory/Jake, Amanda/Leo, and Tara/David (yay!), but I was hoping you may add a few more things. I just finished 13 Gifts then went back and read 11 Birthdays again. I think I MAY have figured out Grace’s rushing to the hospital, but for my theory to be correct, Grace would have had to be related to Amanda or Leonard. πŸ˜‰ (No spoilers!!) Anyways, in the end of 11 Birthdays, Amanda gives Leo a stack of postcards to “keep in touch” so the repeating day won’t happen again. However, in 13 Gifts they communicate using chalkboards- implying that they only don’t have to TALK to get the day to repeat, but that is different than in 11 Birthdays, where just writing is implied enough to keep the day from repeating. Just very confused on that. But can I say that I am SO FREAKING EXCITED for the next Willow Falls book?!?!?!? Please give me a release date!! I’m dying over here!!
LOVE one of your most biggest fans (to whom you replied with an autograph for Christmas saying “To one fellow writer to another, -Wendy Mass),
    Brianna πŸ˜€

    • Wendy Mass on June 13, 2013 at 11:08 am

Yeah, I’m just going to assume Angelina told them they have to speak directly for the curse to be broken, hence the chalkboards being ok. You’re definitely on the right track though with your guesses (well, not the related part. ;o). I think you’ll like it when you read it, or at least i hope so! I think i got in all the requests!

  41. Brianna on June 7, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Oops! Also, Amanda’s twin friends Emma and Tracy don’t show up in Finally or 13 Gifts, despite her vowing to spend more time with them. I would love to see a cameo with them in the next book πŸ™‚

    • Wendy Mass on June 13, 2013 at 11:13 am

Good point, but those two books weren’t Amanda’s story. Of course now i’m wishing i’d thought of them for The Last Present, which goes back to Amanda–hmm, not sure I did…maybe in one scene..hmm, I don’t think i did. bad wendy! If only i’d gotten this comment a month ago. sigh.

  42. Tasnuva on June 11, 2013 at 7:39 pm

    Hi Mrs. Mass!
I am in 6 grade and your books are something that I’m always looking for in my school Library or online!!! I’m VERY excited about The Last Present, because I LOVE the Willow Falls series! Your books have those realistic persons point of view with a hint of magic and love. A great series of younger kids in my school to read as they grow older πŸ™‚ Can you please visit my school next year? If so, I will email you the information on where it is and which school it is πŸ˜‰ And also, I love the covers on your books, making them not show their face?! Nice! πŸ˜› You should start another Willow Falls series, but in the future of Amanda, Leo,Rory,Tara and David. Please reply back when you can! Remember, you are amazing, so remember that!
